A day from 'Are we there yet'

We have a lovely book that is making the trip with us called Are We There Yet by Alison Lester, about a family that travels around Australia. It has been read many times and we are becoming familiar with many of the places written about.

Yesterday we decided to replicate a couple of stops in the book:

Dylan at Streaky Bay

Lukas at Streaky Bay

Murphy's Haystacks

We're into the Nullarbor proper today. If you don't hear anything in a week's time, send someone to save us from the feral camels!

Things I've learnt along the way.....

6) Don't look at the price of petrol in remote places, it will only add worry to your day. Best just to fill up when you need to and paywave the worry away.
5) Grass camping sites are worth extra money, time and effort. Sticky red dirt is my enemy.
4) WikiCamps - the best money I have ever spent on an app - do not leave home without it
3) Spraying insect repellent in the door of the motorhome will set off the smoke alarm which will scream ridiculously loudly for 2 minutes.
2) When you pay $4 or $5 per load of washing the concept of mixed load applies - there is no more separating of towels from sheets from lights from darks.
1) A rest stop marked in the Camps book as suitable for overnight stays is usually NOT suitable for overnight stays unless you enjoy sleeping 10 metres from a road.
