Double digits on the road

Another important milestone in the adventure has been reached, with Dylan entering double digits.

Cheers Big Ears - a birthday mocktail
His tenth birthday celebrations started in a delicious fashion on birthday eve with a gourmet dinner at the restaurant at Sails in the Desert at Uluru. We had fancy drinks and partook in the delicious buffet which included a 'live interactive kitchen' where you could watch chefs cook you a specific order and a dessert bar. Perfect for a young man who loves an opportunity to be a food connoisseur.

After catching the shuttle bus back to the campground (where we really belong, not the fancy hotel!) we thanked Dylan for turning ten in a place with such a lovely restaurant and fell into glorious food comas.

The birthday itself was a busy one filled with present opening, bidding farewell to Uluru, a bit of driving and a lovely walk at Kings Canyon. We camped at a fairly non-descript rest area that night but it didn't matter as the day was topped off with a special evening treat, the television in Suzy Q was switched on to watch a movie (only the fourth time it's been used on the trip!) And there was icecream cake.

Being a ten year old sounds pretty awesome!
